Resources and equipment

The course is very well resourced and has a wide range of dedicated equipment, including:

Still Life Studio

Up to 16 work areas, each with 4x5 camera, table and lights.

Fashion Studio

15m x 7m, with a full range of electronic flash and a model changing room.

Digital Darkroom

Fully equipped with colour balanced monitors, the latest Macs, networked A2 printers and 2 Imacon scanners.

Processing Suite


4 individual B&W enlargers, all 35mm to 4x5,
automated E6 transparency processor (35mm to 8x10),
automated C41 negative processor (35mm to 4x5),
B&W negative processing,
archival washing for B&W prints,
toning sinks.

Medium Format Cameras

2 |Hasselblad digital kits
645 digital kits
10 RB67 kits, each with 3 lenses,
10 Pentax 67 kits, each with 3 lenses,
additional lenses for both systems.

Large Format Cameras

In addition to the still life studio cameras there are 8 Sinar Wolf 4x5 for use on location, with a full range of lenses, bag bellows, tripods, changing bags and dark slides.

Digital Imaging

A dedicated area with Mac G4s and high resolution transmission scanners and CD writers.
Various digital cameras including Fuji & Nikon, and a lovely new Phase 1 P20 back on a Mamiya 645AF in the fashion studio (48MB from every shot!).

The School of Art and Design also contains a large number of networked Mac computer suites and an extensive Library and Learning Resources Centre.
